Cancun, Mexico

Dolphins at the resort!
Tulum: ancient Mayan ruins
Isla loved the slides!
Lots of fun things to do within the resort!

FQ&A:

Hola! We just got back from an amazing trip to Cancun a couple of weeks ago and I thought it might be helpful to answer a few questions I got along the way! Short and sweet.

Have any tips for getting good deals?

After traveling to Italy using a Groupon, I've been so much more on the look out for good deals! Luckily, Cancun, at the moment, seems to have many! I looked around and found a lot of cheap flights and deals (just google it!) but ended up not even going with the best deal out of preference for more convinece while traveling with a child. I still found a pretty good deal through Delta Vacations that included flights and stay at an all inclusive resort! We opted for nonstop flights but could have saved a lot if we wanted to have lots of layovers. With a toddler I think its wayyy worth it to get the nonstop!

Where did you stay?

I looked through literally hundreds of hotels but narrowed down my choices with this criteria: had to be kid friendly, on the beach, 4 star and above rating, all inclusive, and have water slides for Isla!
Narrowing it down to those options, I loved the Bracelo Maya Palace! It's actually part of a resort made up of like five other hotels but by staying at the Palace you have access to them all!
I would highly recommend this place to families but not necessarily honeymooners! It was so much fun and catered to young children!

Did you leave the resort?

Yes!
One day we took a tour to Tulum; ancient Mayan ruins! And I'm so glad we did! It was a hassle with Isla and SUPER hot, but worth it to get out and actually see some of Mexico and learn something new. It was fascinating!
We booked the tour through Delta as well. They coordinated it with our hotel and picked us up, so it was nice and relatively easy.

Did you feel safe traveling to Cancun?

Honestly, I felt pretty good about it, especially after seeing SO many other families traveling there right now!
There was a moment when I started reading a lot of news articles that kind of scared me, but looking further, most stories involved drugs and alcohol- things we stay away from anyway. And staying within the resort felt very safe and private.
Another thing I've learned from traveling is to trust your instincts. If it doesn't feel right don't go. But most of the time traveling is just like living in your day to day life. There are always risks but be mindful and aware of your surroundings and you should be fine.

One night before the trip, we were in the car driving home and I was talking to Josh about our plans in Cancun. Literally the moment I started talking about how I was a little worried about it, another car nearly swerved into us! We were all shaken and so grateful we were ok, but in that moment I realized we were minutes away from being home and still almost had a scary incident.
My point is that you really can't avoid all danger in life, even so close to home. You can try your best to be safe, take precautions, and always PRAY, but you've gotta go out and live your life! For us, traveling is a way we feel we are living life to the fullest! So we go :)

And we had the best time!

ps this was not sponsored at all! although I wish! hint hint Delta ;)
